L D H P Medical Review Services Corp., Sandia Park, N. M.

Formed a medical review service along with fellow medical professionals for the purpose of providing expert witnesses and reviewing medical records for the determination of personal injury and areas of deviations from standard medical practices. This service is for members of the legal and insurance professions. Public service information and education is also provided. I worked closely with an attorney group prior to forming my own medical review service. I also continue to remain active within my profession in various clinical settings while serving as president of L D H P Medical Review Services Corp.

1998 - Present

Nursefinders, Inc., Albuquerque, New Mexico

Nursefinders, Inc., is a private duty nursing company supplying temporary medical staff to health care facilities. Nurse Finders also provides in-home medical care as private duty shifts and functions as a home health care or visiting nursing care agency for the homebound ill. My involvement with this company has allowed me to maintain a high level of current nursing practice skills while supporting a flexible and intermittent schedule that does not interfere with my responsibilities as President of LDHP Medical Review Services Corp. My primary focus of nursing practice while at Nurse Finders, has been in the following areas:

1998

Nurses by Sara, Albuquerque, N.M.

I was hired as the Assistant Director of Nursing. My function was to help facilitate in the transition of this company from providing solely facility staffing [nursing homes]

to also providing in-home nursing assistants. My primary focuses were:

I resigned from this position as I felt there was not sufficient support for developing a core staff of professional [licensed] nurses who were familiar with home care to adequately supplement and supervise the in-home nursing assistant program. In my professional judgment this was a necessary prerequisite for patient safety and quality of care hence justifying the expenditure involved.

1988-1996

Hospital Home Health Care/Presbyterian Home Healthcare,

Albuquerque, N.M.

My primary nursing duties were to coordinate, manage and deliver all aspects of patient care to home-bound patents. This included planning, coordinating and working with:

    1. Physicians.
    2. Other professional staff members.
    3. Non-licensed staff members.
    4. Other professional medical disciplines.
    5. Community resource agencies.
    6. Out of agency resource personnel, paid and volunteer.
    7. Insurance providers.
    8. Patients/Clients and their families.

Other duties included:

    1. Supervision of non-licensed staff members employed by this agency.
    2. Responsible for assessing and supervising the quality of in-home patient care.
    3. o Provided patient case management.

      o Provided services for rural and urban clients.

    4. Provided care for very high-risk patients.
    5. In-home patient care on a shift basis as needed for the home-care portion of this institution, especially in the following areas:
    6. o Complex medical patients.

      o High-risk patients.

      o Hospice patients.

      o Hospice home visits and case management.

    7. I Specialized in complex wound care patients, evaluated wounds for other staff members and case managed long-term patients. Some of my duties included:
    8. o Set up wound care procedures for patients.

      o Set up wound care procedures for other staff members.

    9. I specialized in long-term care and case management for chronically ill patients with various diagnoses but primarily focused on patients with pulmonary [respiratory disease] patients and oncology [cancer] patients. In this area I provided in-home intravenous [IV] administration of:
    10. o High-risk antibiotic/antifungal medications, i.e., [Amphotericin-B].

      o Various types of chemotherapy medications.

      o Blood transfusions.

    11. I provided patient education and instructions in the usage of technically complex equipment used to administer various intravenous fluids as well as other fluids such as tube feedings to patients and their families.
    12. I provided patient education for in-home equipment used to aid breathing.
    13. I performed in-home renal dialysis.
    14. I participated on various committees including:

    o Quality control.

    o Infection control.

    o Safety Committee [both staff and patients].

    o Audit Committees-associated with accreditation of this facility.

    1. Administered vaccinations for the public school system to school age children when a measles outbreak occurred.
